How Would You Stock a 4300 Gallon Tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A pima, some arowanas, some rays, a golden dorado or two, cichlas, armatus, GATF, bichirs.....*takes a breath or two of air*.... Gars, FRT, school of tiny little fishys (white clouds, neons, cardinals, dianos, guppies?) *takes another breath or two of air* and finally I say.....the possibilities are endless!:nilly:

I'd go with some delta natives....bowfin, gar, drum, carpsucker, buffalo, flathead cats, maybe some basking turtles. With sufficient structure you could probably keep breeding populations of sunfish, flier, shadow bass, golden shiners, etc. going.

...Or a "primitive" tank with bowfin, gar, bichirs, South American and/or Australian lungfish, African arowana, notopterid knifefishes, large mormyrids if you can get them, maybe even a matamata.

I would go with...

Giant gourami
Mbu puffer
Lungfish
Silver aros
dats
stingrays
some cichla

I would put several hundred wild, Royal Blue discus in there.

I would be careful not to overcrowd the tank since it takes away from the individual beauty of the fish. Here's a list of what I would try to acquire:

6-8 Vittatus ATF - They look great schooling together
1 - Golden dorado
4 pbass - 1 pair of orinos and 1 pair of monos
3-4 aros - mix of black and silver
10-12 blackbar silver dollars to act as dithers
3-4 dats - again mix of ST, thinbar and NGT
2-3 rays - marble moto or leo
2-3 cats - mix undecided at this point
2 - dovii
2 - vieja sp
a couple other large cichlids - perhaps pikes
4-5 large bichirs - endli, ornate, del
