Sup my man! Pimpin lookin tank. Too bad ya had to get rid of her, she was a looker. You hav a lot of tank space, so you do have a lot of options. A lot. Sooo much fun you could have. South American cichlids come to mind, they are generally less aggressive than CA cichlids, and are just as pretty if not prettier. Oscars are South American cichlids, but those are among the more common ones. I think you should get into Crenicichla! :D Pike cichlids rock!! Totally awesome man. There are soo many possibilities and what not. Stop by my subforum or whatever you call it and we'll hook yaz up with info, pictures, and all you could ever want to get addicted. :P or you could just check out Rapps site... www.tangledupincichlids.com hes got a killer list of cichlids right now..but you probably already know about him since you live fairly close...haha..jealous am i! Anywho, WELCOME

Hi Folks, I haven't been on this site (well, technically it was predatoryfish.com) in about 2 years. Not since I had to give away my ClownKnife. She was a beauty.

But, she was getting kinda small for her 150 gallon home so, I luckily found a guy in PA that had a 700 gallon tank that wanted here. (actually he was from that old site, though he has never responded back after I gave him the fish.. hmmmmm)

I have moved into a new place, and am getting the addiction back to get another big fish. But, this time I wan something a bit more aggressive and less likely to hide. So, I'm leaning towards a cichlid perhaps. Perhaps a Flowerhorn or the like. But, I would like to have something that eats prepared food or pellets. The clown knifefish never did... No matter how many times I tried all the years I had her, she would ONLY eat live foods. and 2-3 dozen goldfish every 4-5 days was getting a might bit expensive. So, I would like a less picky fish, something with nice colors, and active. Heck, if it attacked the glass when I put my hand near it I would like that as well!

Thanks folks and hope everything is well with you

(p.s. if you are wondering why I called my fish a She is that she would lay eggs everyso often)

when i had a clown knife i had it on pellets and prepared food

gotta start at a very young age

them damn wippersnappers are stuborn

I actually had 3 knives at one point. This big one, and 2 babies (normal standard clowns). And I had them on pellets. I ended up giving them to friends for their house warming gift, they had a inwall 500 gallon tank (that came with their house). So, it is working out for them and they are eating those meaty pellets and all is well. I'll try to dredge up some photos of the babies and how they look now.

As for Pikes, I have seen them but never done to much looking into them. I had a friend with a Crenicichla johanna that was rather impressive looking, but i'm undecided yet.

I'll swing past your forum and check it out!

The tangledupinchiclids site is impressive. I have actually seen some of those pics before. Infact that is where I got the idea for possibly getting a Hypselecara temporalis.

I think that the larger fish (i'm guessing male) behind the foreground fish is impressive. I love that rounded headshape!

I had seen the psittacus before... I just had a bad reference, there was this annoying guy from a pet store my ex used to work at... he would carry on non-stop about these fish... and everytime I see these fish I picture a 6'7 moron blabbing at the mouth. (P.s. he claimed to be a fish specialist, but over medicated the tanks his second week there... the store lost ALL their fish... and they still kept him... so you can see why I am annoyed when I picture this guy...)

yeah... i'm a dork. I know. hehe.

I've been trying to look for a larger chocolate cichlid with some nice color, but the ones I have seen look horrible, enough so that I am beginning to think that they are mismarked.

I would love to find one that looks like this.
