Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I live in Sarasota, FL. Been keeping planted tanks for about 3 years now. I've seen so many wonderful pictures in this and other forums that I couldn't help but trying it out for myself. I used to be in the hobby a little bit when the Cannon F1 was one of the hottest cameras made (Damn I'm getting old).
I have been shopping around and finally got the following equipment to get me started.
Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D with 18-70 mm lens.
Sigma 105mm EX Macro.
I was trying to decide between this one and the Nikon D50. I got to test them both out for 2 days. And I saw no difference in picture quality between the two. I like how the Minolta felt much better than the Nikon. The Nikon was way too big for my small hands. And the clincher was the price; I got the Minolta for a lot less than I could the Nikon.
