Whoa, enough with the all capitols, eh? One word here or there for emphasis, but all caps all the time is even hard to read. I understood it in the first post, you were beyond honked off, but you've done it in every post.
No offense but most "monster fish keepers" are fish abusers that keep giant fish in tiny tanks.
Offense taken. I will not take on a fish I cannot house properly, which means I may never realise my dream of keeping a clown knife. The majority of people registered on this forum are monster tank owners because of the fish they want to keep. This forum is here not just to share our experiences but to educate newbies.
As for HR669, it is well meant, but horrifically wrong in the way they want to implement it. As worded it would not only destroy our hobby, but the entire pet industry. Tropical fish were just a by blow, this was aimed at herps and other "dry" exotics. This will destroy the entire pet industry unless you want a dog or a cat, end of choices. It would eliminate serious hobbyists, period, unless you are independently wealthy. Not just well off, we're talking filthy, stinking rich.
Breeding will be illegal, even if you have "grandfathered" fish or other animals.
This is one scary bill people. I have written to all the committee members from my state, whether they were "my" representative or not, I signed the site's petition, I've talked about it on every forum I participate at, brought it up at the local fish club and told a guy that I know that's active in herp circles. In short, I am doing everything within my power to get this bill derailed. While it's still a bill, we have a chance. Make some noise, dammit.
EDIT: Here's a link to a good place to monitor this abomination:
