Opposed to bill hr669. The bill is based on fear not on fact. It assumes that all fish are able to harm the environment that they may escape into without any real regard for the specific species or environment. This is a ridiculous broad sword law. It is the of equivalent of saying all foods and medicines were banned unless proven safe. It is up to the government to prove that the substance, in this case fish, is a threat, not the other way around. That is not how we are supposed to be, in this country of liberty. Why should this law be any different from FDA regulations? It should based on a case to case biases with geographic differentiation. The law would hamper breeding efforts and harm conservation of many creatures simply out of fear of a few. Not to mention harm the economies of many third world communities who depend on the export of aquatic life. Shame on the house for trying to take the easy way out!!! This law is erroneous.
