Found this beautiful 1.5in female in the Convict tank at my local specialty shop ($2.99). I immediately thought she might be a HRP, but wanted some opinions. The guy who helped me said they get all of their Convicts from the same breeder, but wasn't sure if they were HRP's or standards. Either way, she is beautiful for how small she still is.

I did some research on them, and even at the fry stage, they show light colour and blue hues, they don´t start off brown, and then turn pale, like some CA/SA cichlids do. A lot of people still don´t consider them to be different species so they will breed a blue and white female with a regular male etc, and I think thats what you have. no doubt the fish has some HRP heritage, but it doesnt look like a full one to me. but hey I just got mine yesterday.... been researching them like mad, so I hope that helps dude, your fish is beautiful either way, very eye catching compared to a regular con

i had a pair of blond HRP,they seemed less aggressive than regular cons, but still tough.the OP's fish does look like a hybrid, but looks great!

I agree that it might have some HRP in her, but all of my young HRP have started out very pale blue and turn very bright blue.
She could be 100% con, because I've seen some really colorful females in the past.

I agree, notice the purpley blue base colour on the con, I also have a large female regular black con with a similar colour

IMO the black would be more intense if it was female con, especially when showing those oranges - when displaying the vivid orange breeding colours the blacks usually pop too. So i would say HRP, however, if the lfs says they get their cons from the same place it may be a crossbreed of the two. I haven't seen many female cons with the blue on the underside like that before - so i say HRP.
