afro is large enough not to be seen as food, eitherways this gator is very sickly and wouldn't pose a thread even to feeders:(

it moves as much as my sterlet and if u remember the size difference between the gator and sterlet it looks about the same as ur gator n afro, all im sayins is watch it.... gators health n aggression can change in a moments rage u should know that...
 
couple possibilities with that fish, it is most likely just really fat. captive fishes develop large amounts of fatty tissue, this has been evident in several dissections. do you know how old the fish is? it is possible it is a female (could still be a fat female) potentially with eggs. the latter is less likely, and can be better estimated based on the age of the fish. one really doesn't see gars like this in the wild, but there isn't always much that can be done to prevent it from happening in specimens in captivity--
