Not only the big ones...they are killing all of them...

well that guy looks as if he needs money so maybe he is just doing what he has to do..get money/food for him and his family.

I'm sure he needs money, I'm not saing he is a bad person.
The point is, there is a lot of money all around the world! it is necessary to be better distributed !!! I'm sick to accept this kind of scene when so much money is used for stupid things...I'm not trying to do a political talking it is just my point of view!

I know what you mean, don't get me started on the amount of money that, in my opinion, is just wasted. (see the price some football (soccer for the yanks) players fetch for a start!)

Always a shame to see a dead monster fish, but arapaima are supposed to be good eating. hmmmmmmm, battered arapaima and chips:drool::drool::drool:

You got it. My problem is not specifically with this guy and this Arapaima. My problem is with the long time educational/economical problem that make people destroy almost everything for money.
And you are rigth Arapaima is very tasty, maybe the best...:drool:

Some people here are exaggerating, nobody is killing ALL THE ARAPAIMA. in fact, it is a protected species in brazil.
It is IBAMA that did this and you guys get mad at IBAMA when they dont allow abundant export of fish but get mad at them when they arent controlling the killing of all arapaimas as you say.

I know that IBAMA intends to protect the Arapaima, oficially it is a protected species here in Brazil. But this protection is not so effective, in the same way of the protection of jaguar, puma, freshwater rays, emerald tree boa, spiders, all kinds of genetic materials and etc...
As other people said, the major problem is the habitat loss, and this problem is the one that IBAMA have less control, because this problem is consequence of rich men acctions and not poor fishers...
