Depends on what sized tank it's in and how much you're feeding it. A lima could get to the 12" mark in less than a year if it's 5" now pretty easily.

I think there has to be a few different sub species of lima i see a good amount of different patterns on them. Also any body notice that the big ones usually have a brown stripe in steed of a stripe thats white like there belly ?

Im feeding mine bloodworms, krill, brine shrimp, earthworms and occasionally beef heart(this is ussually just intended for my channel cat). I hope it grows to at least 16" in my 75G.
