HUGE OSCAR HELP

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
21 could be the time it gives out

thats true :( and if the tank breack my parents would freak but how bout a 125g is that glass thick enough

Personally I would consider rehoming the pacu now while someone will still take it. Pacu will out grow the 120 or pretty much any other home aquarium in no time and youre back to square one upgrading I know alot of people like them but imo much like rtc and id sharks they shouldnt be considered an aquarium species

yea i no the this 120 is 2 feet wide i am rehoming it for sure to a 500g + at my freinds im just keeping it till he sets up his tank

Time to call the local Aquarium.

The pacu will need at least 300-350 gallons of water and 3/4" glass.

No a 125 does not have glass thick enough. Neither does a 210. Mine broke the lid on their 210 in a jump. The tank was made with 1/2" glass, the lid was 3/8" . The sides of the tank were only 1/8 of an inch thicker than the glass that was broken.

I just measured the glass on my 125, its 3/8".

Its as simple as this.... your pacu WILL break that glass. When it does, you will have 100 gallons of water on the floor and however many fish that are in that tank dead.

Do you really want to add more fish to the death toll?

Either find a better home for the pacu, or save your dollars and get ready to buy a bigger tank, or a pond. FYI they do a lot better in the company of their own kind, in pairs or trios is about all anyone can realistically house, but a pair of them is a lot better than a single.

i knew this would happen with this thread no offence but whenever the name pacu is mentioned th person is critisized for having one trust me everyone has heard it befoe.

I have a pacu, I don't get criticized. Heck I have 3.

Responsible animal husbandry is the key. Treat your pets right, and no one is critical.

i am assuming you have a huge tank probly one that i dream of having but this pacu has been in my tank for less then 24 hours and im not planning on having him for more then 3 days but im just saying MOST pacu owners get critisized

Less than an hour ago he was here to stay. Its amazing how much your information has changed in an hour.

I am glad to hear you are being responsible with your pets.
