huge senegals at lfs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Heres the problems. They are still getting used to the tank and its occupants. They possibly don't recognize the shrimp as food. However they will figure it out when they get hungry and or they will find scraps and eat them.As for handfeeding it will just take time for them to get used to you-Anne

A bichir in good condition can go without eating for a cpl weeks and I have heard of them
not eating for a month

definitely. i had some of mine go on hunger strike for longer than that without me seeing them eat (and it's easy for me to see for one of my tanks at least) and without a belly bulge to show. so it's anyone's guess whether they were eating scraps.

I bought a big senegal this summer.. he's 2 years and around 10" long.
80 swedish kr... like 8 $

kill a gold fish and put it on a stick with a peice of shrimp do this for a while then flip the order put the shrimp on the bottom then slowly after awhile just put the shrimp then work your way to hand feeding

I saw a 11 inch senegal at petsmart, so awesome

I've got 2 11" senegals who are 2yrs old and a 2 yr old 14" ornatipinnus and 2 months ago i added a 5" enlicheri congicus (now 8" already!!!) and a 4" senegal a month ago and they all get on fine. the big senegals actually mother the little one and he follows them round all day.

All m polypterus are unbelievably active and constantly swim around and dance for food. The senegals are the most active and the big ones eat a couple of prawns or lancefish a day while the little one usually has one. I'll get a vid of them eating and post it.

here's some pics
