there is a BUNCH of big ones in this cold water spring in a state trout park may have to try and get one if good in cold water

they are still riddled with bones, but if you try them let me know how they are.

we've tried the ones out of the lower american river; i wouldnt recommend them to anyone.

they do not eat "turds"

their main diet consists of clams, snails, and crustaceans.
 
Those pics dont do that fish justice. It looks way bigger in person. The red marks on the tail are from spearing it with a hawaiian sling type spear. To prevent any risk of bacterial/fungal/parasite transfer to our fish we clean the suckers and seperate the meat from the bones. Then freeze it to kill anything in the fish.
 
Cool - just pointing it out in case.

Tip for anglers filleting bony fish:

1 - cook them whole, the meat falls off the bone (remove entrails first!)

2 - if you must fillet, use a pair of needlenose pliers to pull out the bones, just make sure the fillet is cold so it doesn't rip.
