Hello,
my tank is a 55long and consists of a payara scomb (5in) and a hujeta gar (3.5in). i dont think there is any agression, they actually dont seem to mind eachother. the scomb swims up where the hujeta is and just looks at it and goes back to the bottom.
Ive had the scomb for a month or so, and i barely got the hujeta a couple days ago.
the issue is, when im feeding minnows to the two, the payara gets it all because the minnows seek refuge behind the driftwood located at the bottom and the pyara just hangs out nearby until they swim out.
how long can the hujeta go without eating? every weekend when i have time i try the fishing line trick with silversides, smelt, and shrimp to atleast get the hujeta to eat it. my plan was to get the hujeta to eat non-live and eventually the scomb will catch on.
anyone have any pointers? ive read that people put in frozen bloodworms but my tank has alot of current and no bottom feeders to clean the bottom since the worms end up getting blown everywhere.
