I was browsing around and ran across a picture that is very interesting to a hujeta owner.

At first glance I thought it wasa bicuda. But after seeing both species pics side by side I am sure this is a giant hujeta.

Sure beats the 10" or so in aquaria

For size reference I beleive that is a guys right palm area and wrist watch band seen in the pic

The scientific names for the fish you're talking about would help me a lot :)

It's definitely not a hujeta!

Looks like a beast! But I agree I dont think its a Hujeta there beaks are more narrow and longer usually. This seems to have a shorter stubby beak

it is a boulengerella species...
hujetas do not have that kind of jaw structure.
oh,and hujetas do get above 10" in the wild.

I am still not convinced its not a hujeta.

Here is a small one for reference

Both together

By the way the pic was labeled giant hujeta. But that doesn't make it the truth. Just means someone else thought the same as I.

My shoal is around 8-10" and as they get a few years on them they grow into there eye. And the top jaw grows fatter.

eyes are totally different.
also, ctenolucius have those two things at the side of the mouth that boulengerella do not have.
