wow, I didn't even realize I had replies here... I didn't recieve any notices... sorry... I don't know how old she is... she's a Cali Spotted. She's about 8" in Dia.

Also... UPDATE... her poop is looking more like poop. I see what you're talking about the fibrous parts, but now she doesn't poop out a semi digested piece of squid. My friend was thinking that maybe because my lfs didn't feed her (he was scared of her) the enzimes in her stomach were dying off. I gave her some peppermint shrimp (expensive I know, but I love her) and since then things are slowly improving and she's becoming much more active.

Try to find an lfs selling ghost aka glass aka grass shrimp. They are feeder shrimp that I'm pretty sure acclimate to fresh or saltwater and they are so much cheaper than peppermint shrimp. They can be labeled as many different names but if you ask for feeder shrimp they should know what you mean.

The Lady said it's a whitening agent. It ws safer than bleach.

do you have to worry about parrisites with shrimp like you do live fish? are the ghost/glass/grass/or pepermint shrimp ok for bamboo sharks? thanks

I've just been feeding her bait squid. I've never had glass shrimp live in salt water for more than a day.

Not so much, but it's not alltogether unheard of either. However the risk is significantly smaller. When it comes to feeding bamboo's, using ghost/pep shrimp is fine to initiate feeding, but in the long run, this would not be a food you'd want to make a staple part of their diet. They do not contain anywhere near the nutrients needed for elasmo's long term, so other than being offered as a treat here or there, or used to spark their interest in feeding (as with newborn pups or newly acclimated individuals), I'd shy away from them. Bamboo's, like any other elasmo need a varied diet rich in proteins and vitamins. You'd be best feeding with prawns, squid, bits of salmon, and other shelled-shellfish / mollusks / scallops, etc.
