Almost all my peacocks have this hump on top. Some yellow labs have it too. Anyone knows what it is?

Thanks

It may be a smaller version of what frontosa have, I think it is called a nuchal hump, I am not sure what the purpose of it is, or if this is even the same thing.

Nuchal Humps, they're common in cichlids. The use of it isn't clear, but it's a build up of fat on their heads. They're boosted by having a high fatty diet. I'm not sure about african cichlids, but normally Nuchal Humps don't have any harmful effects.

Theres not many african cichlids that grow nuchual humps this is usually seen in ca/sa cichlids for example midas get big nuchual humps and yes it is built up of fat.... they are boosted by many things not just diets genes, water changes, and it has to be the dominant fish in the tank.... peacocks dont get nuchual humps lol

They are not hybrids. Old peacocks get these.... a sign of maturity that you don't see often and sometimes looked at as a plus when entered in fish shows. I have many peacocks, but only a few with the hump.

How old are yours?Other than the hump, t hey don't look particularly old.

Definitely not hybrids. They come from reputable sellers. They're still young. I got them less than a year ago when they were just starting to color up.

I feed my fish twice daily and do ~65% water change every 4-5 days.
