So, I've kept quite a few different fish and so far my favorite is my Green Terror. I think his colors, patterns, shape, and personality are awesome. Unfortunately, I've been getting a little bored with my other fish. So, I'm on a hunt to find another fish that I like just as much as the GT. I was thinking about a Vieja Synspilum. Lots of color and personality from what I've read. Can anyone tell me what would be an adequate tank size for a lone male? Thanks. Oh and any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Just a couple of my GT for the heck of it.

A lone male synspilum would need at least a 120G for life IMO. Ideally a 150G. These guys get big !

Other lone extremely characterful fish to consider could be anything from the Amphilophus genus, or a flowerhorn. Either a flowerhorn or a red devil/midas should be OK in something like a 70-80G for life. Ideally a 120G for better living space. if you like digging fish, get a red devil ! Flowerhorns get little love in this particular forum, but they are awesome as colourful, characterful wet pets.

Your GT is a beaut BTW !

agreed with the above!

Red Terror. Nandopsis Festae.

Or a Cuban male , Nandopsis Tetracanthus.

a oscar i love them

I've never seen a full grown festae or Cuban up close and personal but from the photo's I've seen online they don't have the color I'm looking for. As far as the Oscars go, I've had one and I liked it but I wanted to try something new. I can be a bit finicky when it comes to the things that I like. That is why I'm having trouble finding that I'll like as much as the GT. Any other suggestions would be great.

Have you checked the colours of fully matures Festae males and females??

how about a Male Trimac or even a top grade Flowerhorn?
