I don't know. I've never enjoyed fishing so I've never looked into it, sorry.
That's okay.I was just wondering since we also have to purchase a similar license every year.

The trout here are invasive... A license is needed to catch them, work that out. The trout are killing our galaxias (sp?) so what does the government do? Protect the trout. Of course, the galaxias don't make them money, trout do, so save the trout, right? :(
Galaxias here also suffer from introduced bass and are now limited to small pockets of river..

Yes they are, and yes they are. The laws around them are too confusing to explain before 10am lol

Most australian laws are confusing at any time of the day, especially when it comes to animals. I hate to admit it but a lot of them work well though, we don't have a Florida level of invasive species here but the invasive species we do have are well established and probably impossible to get rid of completely.
Still Tassies a cool place compared to the rest of australia, It still has its own vibe and doesn't feel like the mainland when you are there. I didn't know trout were such an issue, you are right, they are a selling point from the govts point of view.

They flip a coin, if it lands on the ground they ban it lol

There doesn't appear to be a rational reason for most bans in Europe Australia or Tasmania, they just flip out and make laws, oddly one of the original members of the UN was a captured nazi, this is why many weapons were banned, the idea being they (the nazis) could reform and take over an unarmed populace, fortunately the nazis would not follow one leader after Hitler's and thus are not strong enough to overthrow governments.
A unarmed country could be over taken by foot soldiers of about 5 percent of the countries population, while in a country with a well armed civilian populace the occupying army would have to be at least 200 to 300 percent more people than the civilian population.

As far as trout fishing goes, do it ! Rainbow trout jump well when hooked, and are good smoked or in fish cakes,I bet your fish and cats would enjoy some trout meat a well

Florida pythons: while not safe to eat, hunting pythons in florida(usually Burmese),
Will yield good skins which can be sold or used for a really bada$$ leather jacket,or a really cool sword sheath.
Hunt by shooting small caliburs or arrows into the back half of the head.
(Will probably also get you a couple free drinks at a bar).
Florida Burmese pythons can live at least 30 days in saltwater, and are a threat to many native species including but not limited to: foxes, coyotes, key largo and cotton rats, opossums, key deer, young alligators, skunks, roundtail muskrats, etc

Nile monitors (Florida), Nile monitors are a threat to many wild animals including many native lizards and reptiles, native rodents, opossums, even American crocodile nests, however they also do a service eating feral cats and dogs, so they should only be hunted in remote areas or in areas with threatened species.
Hunting can be done via high powered air gun, small arms, traps, archery.
They make good boots or rifle straps.

Damn...wasnt aware that there were Nile monitors loose in Florida.....but again,I'm not surprised.
