Are you serious with that question, Ballin?

Really? Do you want to take this thread to that unexcusable issue, just to " bring out the best in me"?:)

Why is it inexcusable? Many culture accept it. Seemed fitting. You seem to enjoy the blood sports of pack dog hunting a wild animal, not too far a stretch

But I will create my own thread so you don't have to live up to your threat

Smiling, aiming and shooting is not an ideal combination.....

I , personnally would never kill one of the big critters in the world. Too precious to kill, imho, just for the trophy.

But again, I also hate hunting dear, not for the same reasons, but because i find no challenge in it, asbolutely.

Wild boar is a complete diferent level. First they are smart and I know ( have in my farm ) some old grey males that constantly outwit me ; and there is nothing like going out for boars with a pack of dogs.

Only way I hunt.

I personnally hate the taste of game.

I do not like hunting for deer. At least the way we hunt them here ( i understand you guys hunt them differently )

In here they are chased by the dog packs and come running towards you. No challenge in that. Sometimes they stand still, quivering, stopped in front of you.

Now to chase a boar, who knows how to hide, how to stay low, and when it is the time, if needed, to turn the table on you and the dogs, is a completely different ball game.

Imho a boar has " heart and gameness " which a deer lacks...

the only thing I disagree with Miguel are what you said about how there's no challenge in hunting deer and how more challenging it is to hunt boar with dogs. only thing deer doesn't do compared to boar is the pretty much zero chance of being attacked by a deer. I don't know if you use guns or knives when hunting deer over there. but if you flush out deer with dogs, you still have to be able to shoot a running deer

not that I wouldn't hunt with dogs. but I think the dogs do all the work, only real challenge is you having to keep up with them

Not a lot of cultures i am aware of. It is always a hidden - awfull- practice.

But anyway, lets not derail. Open your therad about it and we will discuss it there.

You are exactly right Sumo. The only challenge, if you are on foot, is accompannying the dogs, which is not easy, and, it realy happens, a boar turning the tables on you.

For me it is not the hunt, per se. It is being within such a pack of hounds and seeing them do their thing. And i can tell you that they are happy. There is no description of the joy of those packs, their eagerness for the chase when we release them.

As to deers, what can i say that i did not say already? No fun it it. They just run, afraid or stop in front of you. I do not hunt deers as they are hunted here.

You guys track them, for hours, alone in the woods you and that deer. That i can jnderstand.i do not do it, however.

Beyond that, the object of this thread is "primitive hunting" . I am trying to contribute, with my primitive likes and dislikes...

What do you

I can see the fun in that, definitely. but I think at times i'd also like to use my own stealth and tracking ability to find the game myself. plus honestly I would feel bad if one of my dogs got maimed or killed

but where my family has gone boar hunting here, it would be almost impossible to use dogs because you'd never be able to keep up due to the terrain

There's a reality show on the hunters in Texas like Miguel referred to, they let a couple of dogs loose then wait for a signal (type of barking) and then track back to thier dogs by foot or atv, Hopefully before they're hurt.

The dogs wear vests though

I don't think atv's can even go some places. i'm talking steep hill after hill of hiking. let me see if I can get some pics of the terrain and some of his boars from my bro
