Next time think before opening your trap to bad mouth and name call anyone who doesn't agree with your poorly conceived notion of what is required to prove your manhood. When you go out hunting without your high powered weapon, actually track down your quarry, sneak up on it and take it down from close range for the need of a meal, then you are a hunter. Any other way or excuses like government surveys show that it helps the herd and they will starve if we don't kill them is just a little child playing at being a man and playing with himself by proxy. So sayeth this tree hugging, gun owning, non vegetarian hippy.

dragonfish, I hunt using anything from a crossbow to legal Semi-auto AK-47s, I use cover scent, I use lure, I use feed, I use game cameras, I use blinds, I use scopes...I even use camo!
I guess that means Im a little boy playing with my self hoping to be a man one day.
Luckily since hunting is so easy with my modern Bambi killing gear, I have only pulled the trigger once in the last three seasons...
JD7.62, sorry for the bad luck you've had over the past three years not getting to feel good about yourself more often. Maybe try a more low-tech approach, possibly on flat terrain. Stalk and pounce. Watching the light of conciousness fade from up close is a much more satisfying feeling than watching from afar with a scope. That will be it for my rant because neither side in this argument is willing to budge from their lofty position of self-righteousness. That means you. And me, sometimes.

umm,i live in Wales UK,totally different laws to you guys on gun ownership,its also illegal to shoot deer,its classed as poaching,at slaughter houses animals are shot with a bolt gun before getting they're throat slit,as you say....so unless its more humane to shoot animals with a pellet gun or a bb gun,i'll stick to sneaking up on boxes
