Hurricane Irene power outages

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
As far as the bacteria go, move the bio media to the actual tank. They need oxygen just like the fish do, so keep the water aerated and the fish and bacteria should both be ok

I live on the coast of North Carolina so I am also worried about Hurricane Irene...
Good luck dude maybe you won't lose power... If you can't get any battery powered air stones just get a bucket and fill It up with tank water lift it a few feet above the tank and then dump it back in, and keep doing that

Hi, I just posted something about this very thing....I was without electricity for 28 hours. I went to Gander MOuntian and in the fishing section was something called a FRABILL Aeration. IT WORKS MARVELOUSLY!! Saved my 220 gal, 110 gal, 75 gal and my 55gal. Put a pack on each tank to the air stone I had in the tank......EVERYONE LIVED. I had just read on here where if the tank is turned off for any length of time i.e. more than three hours there is an ammonia build up...so I unplugged all of my canister pumps....and I have just finished rinsing them all out and plugging them back in....so far so good all are still alive in all four tanks :) Good luck
