Ahh, I see. So it's not just the ones that hit land that get names, even the ones way further out get names too, even though they're less of a threat?

Yes, I've been looking at it. The west coast of Florida, where you are, looks to be for a rough time.

And there are a lot of members in and around that area.

My thoughts are with you guys over the next 48 hrs or so. Stay safe.
Thank you. I'm inland away from the coast. I'm afraid we will still get it bad. When Ian hit 2 years ago. Some of my friends that live in a low lying area had water to the top of their roof. It was horrible.

Milton is said to be the worst hurricane in history. 😲

From what I'm hearing. Milton is an unusual one. It may be the only one that gains strenthg as it moves its way towards land. Katrina was a cat 5 but as it makes it's way towards land it weakened to a cat 3. Don't be surprise if another hard hitter comes by. It's crazy time we're in. Stay safe Floridians God bless!

The highest spot in Florida is reportedly only 345 feet above sea level. This is about the same elevation as my house, at the base of the Sierra foothills.

But I am far inland. The ocean weather is not a problem.

Will the Florida Keys exist after this? They’ve got nothing but sand to hang on to. “Active” isn’t the word I would use to describe this year.

May God preserve them.

Thank y'all for the prayers and wishes. Fellow Floridians, hang tight.

Our Naples will not be hit directly but will be affected by the gulf surge and gusts up to 100 miles per hour for a whole day. We'll be about 100 miles south of the landfall if the forecast holds. Still a long time from the landfall Wed midnight - Thursday 1-2am. It's getting very windy here too with occasional tornado warnings in the area.

We have already had a foot of rain in the last week. Water has nowhere to go but up :) All the ditches are full, roads are partially flooded already, before the main thing will come :)
