I live in Houston and had to evacuate on Thursday. When I returned Monday night most of my fish were dead. All the fish in my 100G were dead except my 8" Pleco. The 30G my pair of Cons made it. This really sucks. I assume they ran out of air during the power outage. I don't know were to start again. I hate looking at the empty tank. Maybe this weekend I'll go looking for some new fish. This just sucks a whole lot...

Sorry to hear about your fish man...my parents evacuated Houston as well. Luckily, all their fish (including thirty baby convicts) survived the 20 hour power outage they had........but they were lucky to only be out of power for that long. Some people still don't have any power around here. I'm sure a lot of people had no fish make it.......makes me sad.......fish can't evacuate.

sorry about your loss dude, had the same problem, although my lights didn't go out till after the storm, weird , very weird, luckily I had two battery operated air pumps, which i kept switching from tank to tank. lost power for about 10 hours and didn't lose any fish. you should try looking into these on the net. rather cheap and seem to do a very good job. used them several times, during blackouts in the hot summer months. will also look into buying a generator. that would be sweet.
