hybrid catfish outside with no heater?????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
sandiego like most sunshine areas still needs a heater but doesn't need an electric or gas one. So expense will be much less than those in colder climates.

I plan on doing something similar, only mine will be larger (4'x8'), insulated, and have glass over the top of it. I'll hook it to a sprinkler timer with a pump that t's off, one way goes to the heater (and then to the pond) the other goes directly to the pond. This way the slower flow allows for more heating time in the tubes. The timer will regulate when water passes over the tubes (to prevent the heater from being a cooler at night) and it'll allow me to shut it off during summer.

Are you going to run it off it's own pmp or in-line?

Seems like a solid Solar heater.

it'll have it's own pump, so it will take already filtered water on a seperate loop. as stated above I plan to use a T and split it to where half goes back to the pond and half goes to the timer/heater this way I don't have to use a timer ofr the pump as well and I'll use ball valves to control the flow.

I liked the design because I don't have to get on the roof to install or maintain it. lol
