I doubt there's any con genes in this fish, the barring from texas has combined with the 3-4 dark spots that all synspila have, that's all. You can never know how a cross between two different species will turn out, how the traits will combine...
Thank you op, I have this exact pairing, male carpintis X female syn, nice to know how some may turn out. Please post pic's of some of the other fry from this spawn as soon as you can!

Green texas genes are very strong in that one. I wonder if that's the norm.

Looks very much like Herichthys sp. "turquoise", almost doesn't look like vieja at all. Did you breed this fish yourself?

Yeah definitely no convict genes. As far as I could tell mom and dad were both purebred. I never realized how readily some of these fish will crossbreed. Working on pics of siblings
