Update:
A lot of the hybrids have now reached 1-1.5" and can be safely sold/shipped. I just bought some new Kordon Breather Bags, so in the next few days, after they arrive, I can begin shipping for anyone who'd like to buy one (or more).
Anyway, the hybrids are a mix of males and females (more females than males), though I do not know if this particular hybrid will be fertile or not (first attempt at this particular mix).
Both parents (P. alleni and P. cubensis) are an aggressive species and it can already be seen in the offspring, which readily display aggressive postures towards anything around them. This means they are not going to be suited for a community tank or tankmates that can't readily defend themselves.
They are all a mix of colors currently, ranging from pale grey (almost white) to mottled navy blues/blacks. Some display blue highlights, some are almost entirely blue, most are a mottled grey. And I have no idea what the adult coloring will be, they may retain their current colors or they may change into something all together different.
Both parent species are large species, so it's more than likely that this hybrid will also be large. So it will not be suited for small tanks.
Currently, the crayfish are eating Hikari carnivore, algae and sinking pellets (along with any weaker siblings they catch, heh). These diets were readily accepted by both parent species, though both parent species lean more towards favoring protein rich diets. This will likely be the same case for the hybrids, so meat scraps, feeders, etc in addition to the vegetable matter provided will likely be gratefully accepted.
All other information about this hybrid is pretty much a guess or wait and see kind of thing. I'm selling the crayfish for $5/ea and shipping is calculated via USPS.com based on the buyers location (generally this is $30/Express and $6-12/Priority). If you have any interest in buying a crayfish, shoot me a PM. Otherwise, I'll just keep spamming my thread with updated pictures as the lil' critters grow. ^_^
