Here
I recently had an interesting breeding cross i thought I would share with MFK. I KNOW some of you don't like hybrids, BUT some of us do :)

Late last year I picked up two hybrid sisters around 9-10" from a friend who is great fish collector and was sadly leaving the hobby. He couldn't tell me the exact blood proportions but they are BDxPearlxHen. They looked very heavy on the pearl, and had an unusual look so I picked them up from him.

Fast forward to early this year and I caught one of my male BD's mating with the older sister. It's the Big spot from my avatar.
Fast forward to a couple weeks back and she had her first litter :) She's a smaller momma than I'm used to, around 12-13" but she had 3 tiny pups. Unfortunately, two of them didn't make it, but one male did.

I have no idea what he will look like but if you guys have any guesses, or comments, feel free to share! The BD father has since knocked her up again and she is showing movement, hopefully healthy pups.

Here are the pups. The one male with the capital "L" symbol in the lower back was the survivor. Very small pups physically. Their egg sacks were fully digested, so they were mature for the most part. I think mom was small and this was her first litter, so I'm not too surprised with their smaller size. The two stillborn were born about 6-8 hours later, the first born survived. I'm happy she passed them safely and they didn't break down inside of her.

The Daddy is my avatar :) More from this cross due soon, looking forward to see how they grow out

Momma is stunning. Those hoops... I assume she didn't give birth to the snake in the photo?

HAHA! JK I was looking at purchasing some more Piebald's and somehow pasted that picture in too by accident :) Thanks for the comment!

Really nice, congrats on the nice looking pup.....

Thanks for the love. After the two stillborn I became a little paranoid and over protective of the surviving male. I usually break pups onto pellets immediately after birth. Solves problems down the road, but after losing two at birth I began feeding the survivor earthworms. I broke my own rule and as a result, he's hopelessly addicted to worms and won't touch any other foods. I'll break him when the time is right but I want to wait a few months until gained some size.

She should have another litter soon, I won't have enough room, someone help me growout!
