Hybrid snakes...

Heres a really crazy hybrid, a bateater(burmxretic) crossed with a retic.
Bateater is a proven fertile hybrid... obviously...lol

I would also like to add that if you don't think hybrids will make an impact on the captive-population... look at Cornsnakes. There are so many that are hybrids with other Ratsnakes, you can't tell the difference anymore. Unfortunately these hybrids are responsible for the wild behaviour that people don't like.

However we still have access to the wild population, so it is not a complete disaster. Not to mention there are breeders that do keep pure stock, sad to say, in this case it is a trust issue between breeders and as well as their costumers.
 
just wait untill they make a hybrid, that ends up the most poisionis snake in the world and kills us all... O yea sorry, didn't meen to let everyone know my plan to take over the world :evil laugh:
 
I did wonder if there was a combo that could produce a largest snake in the world (you know like the liger, have a combo that creates giganticism) like a retic x anaconda.
 
I can never say that I've seen or heard of a breeder selling the babies from clutches that are normal looking as normals they usually label them as het or hypo etc... and sell them for more money..
 
I for one am just flat out completely against the hybridization of snakes. IMO it takes the snake and turns it into an object to be manipulated rather than the beautiful creature it is. I also agree with BIrish on the fact that it will eventually hurt our population of pure blood captive snakes. You know we can't import anything from the Solomon Islands anymore? Theres more places added to that list all the time too.

I don't mind hybrids but I guess like some I hope that they don't take over full blooded snakes position. Where it'll be hard to find a full blooded species that you're looking for instead of someone selling an original hybrid that was bred many times over with a normal species and maybe you can't tell it's not full retic/ball/whatever. Kinda like trimacs were for a while.. everyone was getting low grade flowerhorns because of all the hybridization trying to make flowerhorns instead of true trimacs.
