true, but it works for catfish...maybe they don't do it/ try it, to keep a good profit margen...
If you take a look at rays for example. Asia is pumping out these random hybrids like leo x orbignyi and other crappy hybrids like that. They don't even care about profit margin, they just know more supply equates to more money. Im sure if there was a way to speed up the pairing process or force the breeding process, they would surely do it.

ya but do you really want a hybrid??

yes, you got to collect every fish that swims...and in some cases hybrids are 10x better the a pure strain

true maybe a green jar would look cool espically if it had the larger scales like an Asian

I don't think Asian and Aussie aros will hybridize, as Asain farms are famous for hybridizing fish. If asian and aussie would hybridize to each other they would have done it many years ago and would have produce a lot of them for the market. It's impossible to make a hybrid asian and aussie aro. Even black and silver won't hybridize or jar and lei. Only Asian with different color variants does.

It probably is possible to hybridize an Asian and a Jardini, but the question is why would they? An Asian Arowana is worth more as a pure Asian, hybridizing an Asian with a Australian Aro would not be cost effective and would be a waste of time and money compared to rasing pure Asian Aro fry's.

Its also more expensive to buy 2 asian aros instead of 1 and a jar. The point to hybrid central is not to pump out the most expensive fish. The point is to pump up the biggest supply they can and that equates to more money. Like King-el said, hybrids are only found within species, and there probably wont be in the near future, inter-species hybrids.

well it depends of the individual owner. i would like to do a hybrid of asian and aussy not for the profit gain of it. but to strengthen the genetic make up. pure breeding is nice, but you must understand that pure breeding leads to many defects. you get nice colors and etc...yes but your also purifying a strain of defects/dieseas.
