Hybrid?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Texas or Red Texas but that doesn't matter. You say you think it's a hybrid and I was wondering how you came to that conclusion. It could very well be but to me there are really not many clues that suggest it is a hybrid. Looks just like a chain store Texas.

The thick horizontal bar. The lack of speckling on the forehead up to the dorsal fin. The color. It's supposed to be a "Texas" but that's what lead me to think it's a hybrid.

Looks carpintis x more than cyanoguttatus to me.

That's not how I ment it. I was trying to say that it doesn't matter what it was sold as by the store since we all know they are many times very wrong especially chain stores. My question still stands though. What makes you think the fish is a hybrid. BTW what did the store claim it is?

Not saying its not a hybrid, because these days its hard not to find one.
But Herichthys carpintus can have many color variations even with a single individual, at different times, and in different moods

Above the one on the right, is the same as the others above.
