Hybrid?

I really dislike the use of "texas" to describe a species of fish. Apparently at my lfs a "texas" is a cyanoguttatus and a "green texas" is a carpintis. At least on the tags they use the scientific name as well, but that still does not mean the fish is correctly identified. Throw in the possibility of hybridization and who the hell knows what you are getting. I still am questioning whether or not the carpintis I got last month actually are carpintis.

Now most attempts at red Texas consist of carpintis bc if they're awesome pearls and color. Yet they are still called red Texas and not red carpintis lol so I see what you mean robham777 robham777

Even our better lfs here labels them both as "Texas" cichlids. For most customers it doesn't matter. they're forget what they bought by the time they get into their car lol.
