That's a nice Flowerhorn in the ad. Is it a Jin Kang?

On second thought, I just tried the enbedded link. Same results

Actually...I think it was pulled from that site until it runs in the ACA's Buntbarsche Bulletin.

No, it's a pure Synspilum. Most FH's I have seen haven't been able to touch the beauty and color of this species. Of course...just my opinion.

"So isn't there anything we can do? Yes, there is. The answer is not to regulate but to educate. If we can teach hobbyists that it is important to keep "pure" species in the hobby and that hybridization is allowed but in a controlled manner (provenance, etc), there will be enough space for both approaches in this wonderful hobby.
I wish hybrids would never have entered the hobby. To put it more bluntly: I'm against hybrids. But since they are here we might just as well try to keep the negative consequences within limits" Willem Heijns

I agree,..but i also love to see the diff beautiful FH's
out there,..I think my biggest concern relates to buying
and selling fish,..pure or hybrid,..sellers need to be
honest,...

Bump. Link works now.

Read it! Excellent article in my opinion. I see what you mean about hybrids and the breeders. It is so sad that the Synspilum you might have just bought isn't really a true Syn....

Whats funny is I have wondered this before if this could be an issue? I truely hope that I can get what i think is a clean example of a breed I want.

However, I DO have a Flowerhorn and LOVE him very much! He is obviously a hybrid and I haven't a clue as what two breeds were selected to produce him. Unfortunetly for him, I don't care... I know Im kind of double standarding myself here but I bought a Hybrid knowing he was/is a hybrid.

I was my pure strains to BE pure! If I want a Hybrid I want it to be an absolute mix! LOL

P.S. I don't breed fish so know one worry!

This statement most resembles my opinion but I don't hate on anyone for keeping hybrids. There are some cool looking fish out there but when we have irresponsible and untrustworthy breeders, it puts all hobbyists at risk.

I think that a great perspective that Willem expressed, however, is that people who keep or breed hybrids (flowerhorns, etc.) aren't necessarily any more or less irresponsible or untrustworthy than people who keep or breed "wild type" fish.
