I ordered some Hydro Sponge Pros from Foster&Smith, they are suppose to be reticulated foam but the ones I got clearly are not reticulated foam. They look like the regular Hydro Sponges. I had the Pro V version which was reticulated foam so I know the difference in the look and feel of the sponge. These are not Hydro Pro sponges.

You can see here on the ATI website the difference between the two.

Foster&Smith are telling me they are Pro, are they serious ? Does anyone there actually have a clue what's on their shelves ?

Another thing is the Hydro Sponge Pro box will have the words "PRO" on it and these do not.

Should I bite the bullet and keep these regular Hydro Sponges or should I return them for a refund and buy them elsewhere ?

The shipping process with Foster&Smith is a real PITA. This really pisses me off all the time wasting, it's not the first time I had trouble with this company.

wow thats lame.. im pretty new to everything and i gotta say kens fish is by far the best internet site when it comes to service, returns, whatever the hell you need.. am i aloud to plug websites like that on this forum? lol regardless i had to do a return and he couldnt have made it easier for me.

I once returned an item to them to be exchanged with something else, they ended up sending back the same item I returned to them doh!!! How is that even possible.

Here's a good one "entirelypets", only 4.95 for shipping and it gets to you fast like in a couple of days. I remember placing an order on a Sunday and it arrived to me on a Tuesday. All their prices are some of the cheapest on the internet. The only problem is their stocking is limited.

I"m still deciding on if I want to return these regular hydro sponges or keep them. I paid for pro I expect pro damn it lol It will take another 2 weeks to do the shipping return game.

I've ordered from F&S several times and never had a problem but your situation would bother me as well. It's one thing to send the wrong product, it's another to claim it's actually the right product when it clearly isn't. I would probably order from someone else for your sponges and return the ones you got to F&S in the mean time. If they don't give a refund, just use the credit for something else they can't screw up, like water conditioner or something.

if it is not what you ordered return them and call df&s by phone.

I did talk to them over the phone and nobody there has a clue about anything. I managed to contact ATI and they said the regular hydro sponges do better than the Pros for less than 100 gallon tanks. I was under the notion that the pros would be better regardless of tank size. I'll keep them and try it out, I can always replaces the sponges later with the reticulated foam. They should fit the regular hydro sponge apparatus right ?
