Hydro veggies?

AMAZING THREAD! would really like to setup a short 4 ft tank with veggies on it in the winter that I move outside in the spring.

Then do it. A grow bed above or a raft system works great for a tank.

I can't remember if it was on this forum or one of the other ones I subscribe to but a while back some posted a suggestion to do the same thing. They were shot down because it was mentioned about chemicals used for water treatment would be harmful in vegetables grown in them. IMO that is nosense. Because if the fish can live in and thrive in it, it shouldn't be harmful to us since fish would be more sensitve than we are to chemicals

Almost all water treatment chemicals say for ornamental fish only. If you shouldn't eat the fish you peobably shouldn't eat the veggies either.

Maybe, maybe not. Plants do have a remarkable way of filtering and breaking down toxins. So maybe the chemicals might be rendered safe? I'd like to see some hard evidence before eating them though. Do you guys really use that many chemicals though on your tanks? I have a system down where I don't really have to use water treatment chemicals and its been working great for me now for several years.

I'm on well water so Idon't use any chemicals either. Greatly restricts my stocking options though.. Hence the discus in my user name isn't really valid anymore.
