HYDROLYCUS ARMATUS UPDATE

hi all,
got myself a payara on 7 april 2007. lenght 6 inch. eat 3 to 4 feeding fish per day. last week,fish just recovered from white spot.

t53 post more pics so we can tell what species u hav and give u a better idea of what u can expect from this sweet fish. theyre are a couple species that look very similar

Yes very similar in pictures, however in person you can totally see the difference. At the same size an Armatus has more girth and fangs more bold and pronounce. An Armatus is also more territorial oppose to Red Tails. They seem to be more solitary than the Redtails. That is probably why they are difficult to catch in high numbers in the wild. One time i had to fish out 5 of my Redtails out of my tank. I have one of those huge pond nets. Once I put the net inside the tank they got close together and was schooling around the tank trying to avoid being netted out. Believe it or not since they were such in a tight group I caught them all at once...LOL...

The other two Armatus was totally opposite of each other on each ends of the tank.
