hydrolycus scomberoides or hydrolycus tatauia?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
..... a skool of ATFs:naughty:

The tatauaia is also listed as much smaller, maxing out around 18" rather than 44"

Wish i could afford a big ass tank, would be excellent keeping schools of different kinds of characins, especially the atf's, payara's n aces. Glad to know the scomberoides has the potential to grow bigger among the two, though i tink the tatauaia would look nicer with the red fins. Wat u guys think?

A gatf? Very difficult to get 1 over here. And a gatf? Very subjective topic on the exact id of the fish. Would be rockin if i could get my hands on 1, my vittatus keeps me smiling whenever it's feeding time, wat more a goliath? Juz seperated the payara, gonna put it as species tank. Really wanna beef up the fella, gonna pump him up. Still haven't seen the payara feed yet, gonna get some feeders for him in his personal tank tomorrow. Hope he put's up a good show for me tomorrow....

sounds like a storm brewing before the breeze...

I have heard the red fin Payaras are very aggressive! I have 5 regular ones and getting 5 red fins next week so i hope they are cool and dont fight too much! The little school i have now are doing really good. They are 5 to 7 inches in a 120 with lots of filters and a very strong powerheads and 200 bucks of java moss and ferns and moss balls. I still dont want to put any more current they all seem to just hang out very cool and dont swim much!
Wish someone knew exactly the inch mark when its time to get massive current! I am waiting for them to start swimming more towards the current maybe at 10 inches!
WTB large Payaras

Heard the same thing bout red fins, tatauaia. Now keeping the scomberoides as species tank. Got feeders for him, still haven't seen him feeding yet. Bit disappointed. Yesterday, saw his belly bit bigger. At least he ate something. Now trying dark water, heard from my friend they do better in lower ph water. Experimenting now. Seems like there's something wrong with his appetite, can't figure what it is. Guess it's much more difficult keeping 1, solitary in comparison to keeping a school of them. ......
