  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This is all correct, however fish number two would have to be an Amapa Aimara with that coloration. What was the collection site?

answer is Hoplias aimara ( orinoco VZ ) profile.

taken from, please be careful when dealing with the supplier as they are using online picture.
The fish might not be what they are shown here.

wolf pic 2 is not a aimara

Agree, I seen a small 4" before, 1 look can tell it the real deal

Tigriuns as i mentioned,we also found out that one of the suppliers sent us pics from online sites, and not his own.So we decided not to proceed with order from him.In the photos i posted he sent us #1 photos. So Supplier1 is out of the deal.

The LFS is now talking with Supplier2 who is more willing to cooperate and sent us genuine photos of his fish.He didnt know the species himself for sure,so we were given the photos to check first. However the Hydrolycus are Tatauaia (and not Armatus we wanted more) and we are not sure about the Hoplias yet.Half people here say its aimara and half its not :S .. Confusing

Supplier is from Peru btw

why don't you deal with more reputable supplier like Oliver lucanus?

also run a search on aimaras, there's tons of info shared by hobbyists around the world

Guys ty all but let me say a few things..Its not easy at all to get these kind of fish in Greece in the first place.
This will be the first time ever an aimara will ever be imported to Greece (fingers crossed).Plus we pay them 3-4 times more than u due to the distance (flight charges etc).We searched the web but we find it very hard to identify a juvenile fish as an aimara since we have never seen one in real life.
A shopowner/cohobbyist is helping us make this order.
We rejected supplier1 cause he proved untrusted (fake photos etc). The shop is now in talks with Supplier2 and we are waiting some more photos of the fish listed as aimara and armatus.

PS: Oliver Lucanus is the guy from Below Water? Is he also an importer?didnt know that
