thats cool. ill laugh if you wind up making some parrot or flowerhorn-like fish.

because everyone always wondered the exact true concrete way of making parrots/flowerhorns but there has never been any technical truth. if you wound up making one by complete accident i think that would be hilarious.

I am on my second batch of Convict female and Nicaraguan male hatchlings i have about 40 survivors from batch 1 and nearly 100 2nd batch survivors. my plan is to try and see if I can pair up any crossbreeds for reproduction and select for color. any hints and trial and error would be great, as much as i can tell the offspring will be viable. any knowlege hints etc would be appreciated greatly

if this helps u in any way i had a female convict breeding with another male convict.
i took her out and put her with my jag and some other fish in the grown out tank.
and now the jag and the con breed 1c a month some times two. the babies get eaten by the other fish and now the jag is out growing her.

In my experience the female B.P will choose a male B.P every time, but they are real slutty, so they will breed with anything that will except them with no male Parrot present. I have seen this more than a few times in my tanks with different female Parrots. Generally Convict, and Texas are equally as loose also.
