Back in action!
Made the move to switch from pc to iMac this week. :)

All I can say is after moving my pics over to this system, I can't believe I've posted some of the pics I have online. I'm really looking forward to pp work with this monitor. :) I'm picking up CS3 for mac this weekend and in the meantime, I'll get a chance to become accustomed to a very different OS in the meantime :).

congrats on the new hardware and good luck with the transition gerry.

looking forward to pics pp'd with the new monitor.

sidebar: do you use a monitor calibration tool? i recently purchased an inexpensive one. i have no illusions, you get what you pay for but i was wondering how many others here use one.

I have Spyder II calibration equipment, but I'm not sure it's the right fit. I'm still researching the idea of calibrating an iMac monitor. It also has it's own calibration program, and I have yet to run it.

I like the Spyder calibration tool, but the samsung is a stubborn monitor in that it is not easy for me to get it back to default settings, something required for the Spyder to do a good job. So the calibration was always guesswork.

At this point the big difference is in how much brighter it is than my samsung lcd, and in terms of colour rendition, which I thought was already pretty good on the samsung. I'm looking forward to doing post-processing on a 24" monitor vs a 19". :-D I'll more than likely use the 19" monitor for photoshop palettes while using the bigger monitor for the image.

I'll post a pic of the set up once I have it organized. :)

I recently upgraded all drivers on my PC, added memory, ran a cleaner program, blocked third party cookies, and calibrated my monitor. I also switched to Firefox.
I have been extremely satisfied with the performance upgrades.
I am at 32 bit, the newer systems run 64 bit and the monitors seem to look very high def in comparison.

Hi Gerry,
Welcome to the new system. [sorry-if it sounds fanboyish!]
What made you switch or rather pick the new OS? [baiting...]

Have you calibrated your IMac? I've used mine [powerbook] for a long time before realising the rest of the world sets their gamma to 2.2. Now pining er wishing for one of those new IMacs for a 24" 'experience'.

edit: I noticed the comparison pics, what that is supposed to be grey looks blue in smaller monitor.

Stan - that is a different website (MFK) on the smaller monitor.

Gerry - Interested in hearing your opinion on the Mac once you get adjusted to it. Wondering if it is that much better for graphics and photo processing.
