I got one for my 125 gallon tank that is stocked with clown loaches, bala sharks, and tinfoil barbs.

My media is currently set up: top tray has filter pads, middle has 500 grams of bio rings and bottom has 500 grams of bio rings.

The bio rings seem too little for the tray so i order two more boxes, one for each tray.

Any suggestions?
 
I've got the btm 2 of mine filled with bio balls. Top is polishing pad. And on top of the balls i've got the blue pads.

use pond matrix.. much bigger easier to use. i have it in all of my fx5's .
 
got my first one saturday! i have foam in the top, them white ceramic things in the middle then activated carbon in the bottom. well happy with mine, what a monster!

Just get fluval biorings when they are on sale. I got 10 boxes for $50 with free shipping. Just google + shopping biorings and keep searching for a couple of weeks. When it goes on sale, snatch it up! I bought mine at value pet supplies.com but I just checked they jacked the price up now. I have 2 fx5 filled with biorings and my tanks are spotless.
