The kel that bassguy was sold as a Ra doesn't look like what the rest of ours looks like....but I agree with you all Ra's look about the same, just trying to get to the bottom of that particular type of kel. Do you have any theories on what they are? I'm pretty sure they're not sao fran's either.

The one thing I did notice about the Tocantins and São Fran is the body style... They are both the same and all the ones I've seen of others look the same aswell. Body patterns of mine are different from one another to. As for the São Fran's ... They may not look like the São Fran's we all know about but that doesn't mean they didn't come from a water way in that region and since there have only been acouple known São Fran's before all these small ones... What if the ones we all know of Actually didn't come from there? Nothing is guarantee unless you get it yourself really. Another thing is over the years it may also be possible that new genes start mixing with older ones in the area and this to may cause different looking bass... Just a theory

Yea that makes sense.

My opinion is the one on the left is an RA, but I don't think WC. I got some of these & they seem to grow very very slow & their colors are just not the same as my other WC RA kels I have. The picture on the right looks just like my Sao Fran Kel, not my tocantins. Pictured below: (1) RA Kel from same batch as aceface's (2) Wild Caught RA kel from discus origins. (3) Sao Fran Kel (4) Tocantins Kel

I purchased these from discus origin as wild caught. Weeks later captive bred flooded the market as well. I couldn't tell you if these are true wild or captive because of that reason. I can say I paid wild caught prices on these and would hope they are wild caught but who knows. I've read and heard lots of rumbling bout the bass sales lately but can say I'm happy with these fellas regardless if they are wild or captive. However, it just sucks for everyone that paid top dollars and end up with captive bred cichlas.

What batch is ur #1 pix from? Mine would be compared to ur #2 pic from discus origin. They do not look alike.

Who did you get the tocantin from? Looks totally different from mine.

I believe food, background, substrate, and water condition plays a huge part of bringing out the colors in these little guys.

I also have a feeling some of these kels are cross Breds and sold as wild and I'm not even sure who has the accurate sp. 😒😌😔

Just my 2 cents.

Yea that's what I was saying....your Ra looks like his Ra in the first pic and your Tocantins looks like his Sao Fran in the third pic. I think Im done with collection points there's just to much bs, from now on my kels are just kels and I agree I'm not sure what's accurate either.

isde02 you said exactly what I thought. I am surprised to hear aceface say his RA pictured is from discus origins because it looks just like my first pic, which is from lovethemfish. The 2nd RA pictured is from Discus Origins. Now I am confused! My Sao Fran is straight from Unungy & I believe lovethemfish got a batch from him & sold them to some fanciers on here. Let's just see them when they are all grown up!
