I am buying a 210 gallon reef ready tank....help with sump!

Yeah there are better designs on this site.But yes it is the only filter.Just use rubber maids.But want to build something like this but bigger.

it would depend on the type of fish or reef you keep.

Try to shoot for 7-8x turnover after head losses and curves are factored in.

If you still wanna do canisters, then I would use the overflows for the canisters' intakes and outflows.

I have the same aquarium and I made my own sump out of an old 55g. You can have the local glass shop cut your baffles, silicone them in yourself, add the media and filter pads, plumb in your return pumps (I used two Mag 9.5's for returns), and your done. I will be solid and dependable.

If you want to go hardcore, you could build a refugium like mine.
