No, I had them(air hose) looping over the tank though.

lol i've done the same thing but for different reason of unplugging the air pump-

but nowadays I try to put the air pump on shelves, above the water line its less headaches that way

This is why I own like 5 spare check valves. Gravity will do it, everytime.
