Magnum 250/350 shouldnt be used as a main filter. They are only used for polishing water
 
I use a 350 on my 56 column with no problems. Its been running for 3 years so far. What happened to yours? What kind of substrate are you using? Do you have MTS in the tank? Never heard of one just stop pumping.

my two marinland magnums started acting up last night. makeing noises shuting down exc. i couldnt for the life of me figure it out. I got everything pluged into a distrubution pannle with switchs and volume knobs and such,. It started when i dimmed my lights on the tank. I finaly figured out they either wernt geting enuf electricity or was picking up a backfeed from the floodlights when i dimmed them . I moved the plug over to a difrent surge protector without all the switchs and knobs no more noise no more shuting off. I was freaking last night. sry for my grammer
 
My penguin 350 used to make this clicking noise from the impeller. I cleaned it numerous times to no avail. It stopped making the noise not long ago, which kinda worries me in a way.
