man i have got to go on a collecting trip once in my life...
would you mind sharing with us the estimated costs of doing this including plane, accommodations, rental car, importing licenses etc.?
thanks.
Ok, the deal is I have family out there so I didn't spend dough on hotels. Also, since I was there to visit my Fam. only about 5 percent of my time was devoted to fish and the rest to drunken disorder and bullfights and soccer games and just plain crazyness. So here is the breakdown.
ticket (expensive cuz aug. is a peak season month)- 800.00
transportation to La Union- 110.00
food and beer costs Etc.- 200.00
fish and wildlife form #3-177- free to a hobbyist
bringing back fish including two that weren't on the permit (didn't know what they were)- PRICELESS
The 3-177 form is free and all you have to do is fill out the info (scientific name, common name, origin) and in place of permit number you write Hobby. Both times I've imported the customs agents are aware of the hobby aspect of the 3-177 form. Both times they just cross checked with a restricted fish list and let me go on my way.
I would definitely be interested to go again but it would have to be next year as I only get two weeks of vacation per year.
