Every time we search online for anything, AI is the driving force behind the response, regardless of if it is a direct question or simple searching for a local taco joint.
Don't disagree. But, to provide a different perspective:
I used to work as an AI tech at a brain cancer center. The docs are just now starting to use AI to quickly detect if a patient has brain cancer based on a biopsy. What used to take about 30mins (human alone) can now be done in under 5 mins (combined Dr. with AI). This dramatically cuts down the length of a surgery, as the biopsy is taken in real-time during surgery, and answers need to comeback as fast as possible.
I was just a low-level tech who was hired to harness and set up the system. But, I am sure no one lost a job over this. And I am also certain that this type of technology will save lives once it is better understood by medical professionals. I guess my point is: there will be some loss, but also much gain (and not just profits, but life and lifestyle). That is until Skynet takes over and we all die.
I can relate more closely to those people you mentioned who will lose their jobs
