grabbing the lip like pros do..like the kid above is doing destroys the tissues and the fish's lips..which makes it hard for it to eat big hard things like crawdads and bluegill.
he's holding it like a lip grip..
and when people hold their bass by their mouths and make the fish's body go horizontal, it breaks it's jaws.

I used to hold fish by there lip alot too but I read few of articles saying its not good for the fish mostly large ones, it can cause internally damage like gaps in the spinal cord and such. Now if I used my lipper I support their body, even if it actually dosen't hurt the fish its no inconvenience to hold the fish supported horizontally..
