Today for the first time in my life, I bought a Betta.

A male, not a crown tail, but very pretty.. blue, and greenish.

I'll try and get pics.

Anything special I should know about these guys?

I know that they don't like a lot of water movement.

I have it in a large glass bowl (i know.. i know...) , and I fed him some cichlid flakes- he really enjoyed them!

He's really active, and comes up to the front of the bowl when I walk by.

If you're going to keep him in a bowl, go for some plant filtration with something like pothos. Also, get some sort of heater--you might not need it for the summer time though.

Other than that, just clean water and good quality food and he should be a happy fish.

New avatar threw me off! lol

Well, right now, I don't have a plant.. but I'm gonna get one tomorrow.

I was thinking about going with a little 5 gallon planted tank for him.

He's in the kitchen where it stays about 74F.

Sounds fine, a heater would be appreciated but 74 degrees is no biggie.

He's in front of a window, so he may get warmer. I'll see how it goes tomorrow.

Cool, was almost tempted to get one and put it in my 122 tank. Not sure if it would be happy in there. Looking forward to seeing pics of your betta! Were you tempted to kidnap them all and get them out of those tiny cups? That crosses my mind when I go to Petsmart

yes, I was.. :(

But I don't have enough of tanks for them all.

If they could all live together in a 125, I would have done it!

The females were .99, and the males $1.99

Pictures!!!!

Now all he needs is a name... Hmmm...
