Manatees are probably the most expensive animals in our parks to feed. Our largest one eats 180 pounds of romaine lettuce every day, plus apples, carrots, and sweet potatoes. Again, you can look these prices up at your local supermarket.

I would have it cheked by a vet, the poor thing must be starving if the previous owner didnt gave it the propper food.

Personal opinion, I would see if any zoo or animal places could take it. Its probably not healthy.

Manatees in Florida are protected by both state and federal law. They are protected by two federal laws: The Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972 and the Endangered Species Act of 1973. Manatees are also protected by the Florida Manatee Sanctuary Act of 1978. Illegal to own, you might wanna contact Florida Wildlife and Conservation and let them know what's up before they find out and you get a fine or worse.
