I can't choose a cichlid

I am setting up a 40 gallon breeder for christmas. Im getting 1 Albino Senegal Bichir and 1 Marbled Bichir. Id like some Cichlid's to go with them. Im stuck between Jewel's, Convicts, Firemouths or Salvini's. What would be the funnest fish there. I don't mind the occasional fight but i dont it to be war ground either. Id actually like to Mix 2 of these species if possible. Such as 1 Male Convict and 1 Male Firemouth ect. Would they be okay with my Bichirs?
 
oooooo, that does sound like a cute combo, ima see what all combo's i get recomended. Is it possible that they may hybridize?
 
I would get 1 bichir because they might not get along in a 40g. I would get 1 Jewel, 1 Pink Convict, and 1 Firemouth... I f you pln on breeding I would het a jewel pair and a convict pair....
 
I dont want a breeding pair definetly not. I like your proposal. However, i was told in the polypterus section they'd be fine together. I think il do my 2 Bichirs, 1 Jewel, 1 Convict and 1 Firemouth.
 
My bichirs fought in a 55 but I guess it depends on the fish..
 
not for me lol, i stock my tanks before i even get them LMAO! I mean if i got a male and a female Aqua. What is that fish in your Avatar Balton? He is AWESOME looking!
